(Florham Park, NJ) … Tropical Storm Nicholas made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph early Tuesday, September 14th. Nicholas will weaken to a tropical depression as it gradually turns east over Texas and Louisiana through Wednesday, September 15th and into Thursday, September 16th.

Operations – Port of Houston is currently at port condition modified yankee which prohibits inbound ship movements. Vessel operations will shut down on Monday, September 13 at 16:00 but are expected to resume Tuesday, September 14 at 15:00.
Initial terminal inspections are underway. Some empties are down in the yard but there are no concerns for cranes or overall terminal structures. All Port Houston terminals will remained closed on Tuesday, September 14. This includes the Turning Basin Terminal, Barbours Cut, and Bayport Container Terminals. Vessel operations resumed at 19:00 on Tuesday, September 14th and we expect to resume normal operations Wednesday, September 15th.

Hamburg Süd, Houston: Implemented work from home for Wednesday, September 15th. They are prepared to move phone coverage over to the Chicago office if needed.
