Aliança Navegação e Logística christened the second tugboat Aliança Aracati

Aliança Navegação e Logística christened on October 6th at the Detroit Brazil Shipyard, in Itajaí (SC), its second port tug, the “Aliança Aracati”. The first baptism ceremony in the series, the “Aliança Minuano”, was held in June.

Considered next-generation and suitable for larger and larger ships, the 32-meter-long craft has a static pull capability of 70 tonnes bollard pull. A new tugboat of the same series, Aliança Pampeiro, will be delivered by the end of the year and another four, of an even more modern line, will be available throughout 2019. All tugboats will be operated directly by Aliança.

The vessel was christened by the employee of the financial area of the Salvador office, Virginia Nascimento, who has been with the company for 34 years. "The christening sponsorships are our way of thanking colleagues who have contributed to the development of Aliança for any years and made in impact in the company”, said Martin Susemihl, Member of Regional Management, who attended in this solemnity.

According to José Roberto Salgado, Member of Regional Management, Aliança always seeks to add value to the services provided and, certainly, the tugboats will help in this purpose. "There is a demand for vessels like this and we are generating more opportunities to develop the naval industry in Brazil," said Salgado. He added: "We encourage entrepreneurship in Brazil on all fronts”.

For Salgado, the market needs bigger tugs and there is potential for expansion in Brazil. "As it is an area in which we do not act directly, Aliança will close operational agreements with companies already established in the market to commercialize the services of these vessels," explains the executive. The three tugs of the same series will cost R$ 90 million (ninety million reais).
