Better safe than sorry

With our new Value Protect product, you can now protect the value of your cargo against logistics-related risks during its transportation. Thanks to higher maximum recovery limits and clearly defined compensation levels, you won’t have to worry about losing any money if your cargo is damaged or lost.

We always handle the goods we transport for you with the utmost care. Nevertheless, unplanned things can happen during the transport of your goods that are beyond our control and have an impact on their value.

The legal liability of transport companies often doesn’t match the full value of the cargo – in fact, they often aren’t even liable for the loss or damage at all. “In such cases, customers have to bear part or all of the loss of value on their own,” explains Anniken Winther, Logistics & Services Enablement Lead at Hamburg Süd.

In order to guarantee reimbursement up to a fixed upper limit in the event of loss or damage, you can now add Value Protect when booking your transport with us. For example, risks such as fire, theft, cargo damage due to ship delays or shipping accidents at sea are included. Value Protect remains valid for as long as your cargo is in our care. In other words, Value Protect will also apply if you have Hamburg Süd handle the pre- and/or onward carriage part of your transport under the same Bill of Lading.

“We offer different packages for dry, cool and special cargo from which shippers can choose depending on the type of goods being transported,” says Anniken Winther. “The prices are fixed in advance, no complicated calculations are required, and there are no additional fees.” In the event of damage or loss, the claims process with Value Protect is simple and fast, as fewer documents are usually required for resolution than in normal cases.
