Our roots lie in maritime transport: since Hamburg Süd was founded in 1871 – long before containerisation – we have been transporting goods of all kinds by ship across the oceans. As part of Maersk, we are now able to offer stand-alone services on many trades independently of partners – and thus focus entirely on the needs of our customers. We take particular pride in our commitment to sustainable shipping. To achieve our net-zero greenhouse gas emissions target for 2040, for example, we are converting the shipping fleet step by step to adopt sustainable propulsion systems that use green fuels.
